Jacu Strauss on Design

Tuesday 19th September 2023

A designer and architect and the creative director of Lore Group, Jacu Strauss is behind renowned design-led hotels such as One Hundred Shoreditch, Sea Containers London, on the banks of the Thames, Pulitzer Amsterdam, and the Riggs and Lyle hotels in Washington, DC. For Jacu, it is about getting the design right for the location rather than being on-trend, so the hotels he creates embody the characteristics and aesthetics of the communities of the city they serve. He often relocates to fully understand the culture of a city. Along with his team, he created unique pieces of art for the spring 2022 opening of One Hundred Shoreditch, along with a sensitive renovation and design update.

Join Jacu, furniture designer Philippe Malouin, furniture maker Jan Hendzel, and Vinterior’s Lucy Ward for an evening of conversation on all things design at One Hundred Shoreditch, E1, followed by a private supper to celebrate London Design Week.

A Year in the Kitchen: Fiona Golfar in conversation with Blanche Vaughan

Tuesday 3rd October 2023

Join House & Garden contributing editor, Fiona Golfar, and House & Garden’s food editor Blanche Vaughan at Vogue House for a conversation on all things food. Ahead of the exciting launch of House & Garden’s new recipe book ‘A Year in the Kitchen’ and discover some of the secrets to creating delicious, seasonal food for your table.

Behind The Scenes: Tom Faulkner

Thursday 5th October 2023

The furniture designs of Tom Faulkner have graced many of the pages of House & Garden magazine. His pieces are often described as modern British classics and bridge the gap between contemporary furniture and historic British craftsmanship. Created from metal, marble, wood and glass, the furniture is crafted in Wiltshire, in the workshop that the great British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel built for Great Western Railway in the 1840s. Join Tom and his team at the Swindon workshop to discover the creativity, expertise and care that go into his unique designs.

Demystifying Colour with Fiona De Lys

November 2023

Colour can be the source of many a design conundrum and, too often, we err on the safe side. As a consultant, Fiona de Lys delves into the complexities of colour on a daily basis and her expertise is reflected in her colour-saturated home, which will be featured in the November issue of House & Garden. At this event, Fiona will be sharing her extensive knowledge and Calico Club members can submit their own colour-related quandaries in advance to receive detailed solutions. This is a unique opportunity to garner a greater understanding of colour.

Meet the Maker: Speronella Marsh

Wednesday 22nd November 2023

Speronella Marsh’s Shropshire home was featured in the May 2020 issue of House & Garden. Her house is a mix of pattern and print, celebrating her italian heritage and her love of vintage textiles. When she started decorating the house, Speronella became frustrated with the challenges of finding affordable curtain material, so she set out to create her own – inspired by designs from her beloved collection of antique linens and using her new found skill of block printing. This led to the founding of her fabric and wallpaper business, Hare’s Tail. Join Speronella in Shropshire for a private tour of her house and garden (weather permitting), and the chance to try your hand at recreating some of her delicate, thoughtful designs in her workshop.
